ekoe healing

Springing into New Things at Ekoe

The past few years have changed us. We have had to face challenges and uncertainty, review our relationships to systems of power, and, at ekoe, we have been asking ourselves, “Is how we started what we have become? If we are committed to serving our clients and community, how can we apply our learning and growth adaptively to meet the needs of our community?

“Is how we started what we have become?”

So, over the past year, we have taken it upon ourselves to explore inwardly fostering a culture of safety, inclusivity, collectivity, and anti-oppression. These values will be embodied in all of our healing practices and relationships.

Expanding Upon Our Mission: We are mental health and wellness professionals co-creating safe, anti-oppressive spaces for healing that is integrated, somatic, relational, and collective.

We're Latinx, Black, White, queer, nerdy, team-sport athletes, sober, parents, grandparents, and majority women-owned. We're listening. We're connected, growing, and co-creating healing spaces. Most importantly, all parts of us are interdependent: provider to client, provider to provider, and client to client.

So...what does the new mission actually mean?

The collective trauma and disconnection of the past two years taught us our health and our lives are inextricably linked to one another's. We survive and thrive in connection: pods, teams, families, virtual villages. And yet, when we are struggling - if we can afford it - the old model tells us that we should go to an “individual” therapist at an "independent practice". These professionals are tasked with providing high-quality, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive mental health care, without their own team to lean on and learn with. While this works for some, many of us, clients and professionals, need and deserve more than this.

Our new mission is about building an independent practice. “Mental health" is fundamentally physical and relational. Psychological healing and growth are processes that occur somatically and collectively. With our integrative approach, supported by technology (bio-resonance, nutrition, and more ), our team and affiliates are committed to creating powerful combinations of pathways for collective embodied healing.

How to heal collectively: ekoe groups

Connecting helps us survive and thrive. ekoe has had groups for a while now: Women+ circle, Men+ circle, Recovery Circle, etc. But the pandemic has taught us how powerful they are.

ekoe groups are a safe space to deepen your connection with yourself and others in meaningful ways that align with your unique healing journey. People are seen, heard, felt, loved, supported, and encouraged by members and facilitators. They provide opportunities to practice skills such as vulnerability, owning one's truth, mediation, or mindfulness. Participants can learn from others' stories and feel a connection with people they may not have chosen to interact with. They learn about healing, trauma, mind-body connection, and humanity. These groups are a time every week to check in with yourself about where you are on your healing journey, gain valuable information or tools to use on this journey, reconnect the mind and body, and be in healthy relationships with others.

In other words, you grow in real-time and receive the strength of a community. Current offerings include: Healing circle, women+'s circle, recovery circle, peer consultation group, and more are coming soon.

“The Healing Circle was something I didn't know I needed. I honestly have never been interested in group therapy and participating in this group changed my whole perspective. Eight weeks wasn't enough!”
