Our Approach

We believe in listening to your body’s innate wisdom.

Our team works with individuals, couples, families, groups, communities, and institutions to create embodied collective healing.

  • Individual psychotherapy, also known as therapy, or “talk therapy”, refers to one-on-one work with a licensed mental health provider to address psychological, behavioral, and relational difficulties. Folx go to therapy for a variety of reasons such as: to reduce stress and unhealthy coping; to better understand themselves; to process and heal from adverse and traumatic experiences. Working with an individual therapist to co-create a plan to support your personal health goals can be transformative – regardless of whether you’re living with a diagnosed mental health condition or are simply seeking a safe space to talk.

  • The health of our relationships and partnerships are closely linked to our overall health and wellbeing. In adulthood, we have the opportunity to establish relationships with partners that can support healing and liberation.

Couples that enter their own therapeutic process at ekoe learn effective ways to recognize and interrupt unhealthy patterns, support one another’s healing, and establish and maintain trust and healthy interdependence.

  • Family Therapy at ekoe is geared at addressing the needs and identified goals of family members and loved ones that have been impacted, directly or indirectly, by the relational conflicts, behavioral problems, mental health concerns, substance use and associated issues of another person. Family systems are quite resilient and, with proper support and therapy, families do find themselves meaningfully engaged in a life that reflects liberation, balance and joy. Family therapy is similar to couples therapy in that the relationship is the “client” over one specific person.

However, family therapy is distinct from couples therapy in that the relationship of focus is romantic rather than familial (regardless of biological tie). These services are available to families and loved ones whether one of more family members of concern (e.g., child, sibling, aging parent) are present for therapy or not.

While each mode of therapy differs in structure and who participates, the idea is always to restore balance, connect with one’s own values and enhance vitality.

What is embodied collective healing?

Embodied collective healing at its core is about affirming, healing, and liberating all of us.

Oppressive systems and trauma cycles perpetuate harm and prevent healing. We believe that personal healing and collective change rely on one another and healing from trauma happens through integration of the mind and body, and in connection.

That's why ekoe works with individuals, couples, groups, families, and systems to create embodied collective healing. Treating yourself is not an individual process but rather a systemic process. We are here to challenge outdated systems of oppression and are invested in healing and liberating together.

ekoe groups

ekoe virtual groups are sessions created around different characteristics and/or aspirations. Groups allow individuals to explore relational patterns, bear witness and be seen, and receive support from and connect with other members. In other words, you get to grow in real time and receive the strength of a community.
